Interdisciplinary Centers & Institutes
This group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST. This group gathers those interested in learning more about the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration on a college/university campus and support for this work in all stages of interdisciplinary center development–from early ideation, planning, and implementation stages to those engaged with mature and stable centers–into dialogue and community to help advance their unique goals and missions.
One of the best practices for arts integration is the establishment, programming, and sustaining of Interdisciplinary Centers (broadly defined*) to lead to policies, practices, research, and teaching that are holistic, connected, and innovative.
Topics the group will continue to explore include:
- Metrics for impact
- Funding models
- Physical structures / reliance upon them
- Relationships to surrounding communities
- Solutions to barriers/challenges
- Shared understanding/messaging around the importance of an interdisciplinary center and programming
