Tenure & Promotion Research Brief
This research brief represents a first draft of insights around the issues, challenges, concerns, and best practices related to tenure and promotion. These insights were identified from interviews with faculty, institutional officers, and academic leadership and further contextualized within current research on inclusive tenure and promotion policy and practices.
Our insights address key constituencies within research universities and encompass a variety of concerns that we have grouped into two broad areas: institutional and individual.
We presented this brief in conjunction with our 2018 a2ru Leadership Workshop on Tenure and Promotion (April 30th-May 1st), which included a diverse group of faculty and administrative leaders from across the country.
