Kennesaw State University

The Arts at Kennesaw State University

Kennesaw State University (KSU) has cultivated one of the Southeast’s most expansive and interdisciplinary arts environments through the Robert S. Geer Family College of the Arts, where visual art, design, dance, theatre, music, digital animation, and interdisciplinary performance converge across state-of-the-art facilities and community-facing programming. Spread across the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses, KSU’s arts ecosystem emphasizes experiential learning and regional cultural engagement while providing students with spaces to create and perform.

At the center of KSU’s visual arts landscape is the School of Art and Design, which offers nationally recognized programs in drawing and painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics, graphic communications, animation, game design, and digital media. Students work in specialized studio facilities equipped for traditional and emerging media practices, including digital fabrication labs, photography darkrooms, animation and motion-capture labs, and interdisciplinary maker spaces. Public exhibitions are presented through the Zuckerman Museum of Art (ZMA), a contemporary art museum and educational hub that serves both the university and the greater Atlanta region. The ZMA hosts rotating exhibitions by nationally and internationally recognized artists alongside faculty and student showcases, and supports artist talks, workshops, screenings, and community collaborations that connect contemporary art with public dialogue. Performing arts flourish through the Bailey School of Music, Department of Dance, and Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, all supported by an impressive network of venues and rehearsal facilities. Music students perform in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center, a premier concert venue known for its acoustics and hosting orchestral, jazz, choral, chamber, and guest artist performances throughout the year. Theatre and dance productions are staged in venues such as the Stillwell Theater, the flexible Onyx Theater, and dance studios equipped with computerized sound and lighting systems and professional rehearsal technology. KSU’s commitment to interdisciplinary creativity is further reflected through initiatives like the ArtsKSU Presents series, which brings internationally acclaimed musicians, dancers, theatre artists, filmmakers, and visual artists to campus for performances, masterclasses, and public conversations.

Whether students are exhibiting contemporary work in the Zuckerman Museum of Art, composing and recording original music, developing animation and game design projects, or staging performances in professional-grade theatres, Kennesaw State University offers a dynamic and deeply collaborative arts ecosystem. Its combination of innovative facilities, public-facing programming, and cross-disciplinary learning makes KSU a powerful center for creative exploration and artistic leadership.
