Associate Deans of Research
This peer group of associate deans of research in the arts (and associate deans of research in non-arts schools that support creative practice) meets on the second Wednesday morning of every month. ADRs share unique challenges and opportunities, and we have seen how they might benefit from more intentional knowledge exchange. For example, they work to support faculty in prospecting and applying for grants; supporting research administration that is unique to arts and design; helping faculty understand their work in an interdisciplinary context, as well as preparing them for promotion and tenure processes; and representing the arts unit in an associate dean research council at an R1 or R2 institution where most associate deans support STEM units. This group also looks at the understanding(s) of artistic research on their respective campuses.
