a2ru Hires Research Associate- Anthony Kolenic
January 14, 2013
Please welcome our new Research Associate, Anthony (Tony) Kolenic, PhD. Tony is extremely bright, personable, and articulate; his background is entirely interdisciplinary, with a dissertation that draws on pop culture, performance, and cultural studies to examine school shootings in America from 1979 – 2009. A graduate of Michigan State University, Tony has taught in MSU’s Center for Interdisciplinary Study in the Arts & Humanities, and is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Tony leaves a leadership role in the MSU Anthropology Department’s Peace and Justice Studies program to join a2ru. To top it off, Tony is also a musician and composer. Tony will be working with the Curriculum and Research committees to pursue their questions about high-level research partnerships in which artists are integral, and about creating and assessing the impact of courses that integrate arts practice. We’ll be posting progress on this work as it transpires. We are excited to be bringing an individual with Tony’s capacious intellect, passion, and skill to a2ru.
