Chilean Universities Join Together for ARTIFICA TU CASA 2021
- The arts festival organized in 2020 returns this year to share with the audience eight different cultural talks presented by highlighted artists and professors from all over Chile.
- Every Wednesday from July 7 to August 25, you can join an interesting masterclass through Facebook and YouTube. English closed captions will be added to the videos within 3 days of each talk on the Youtube channel: Artes y Cultura UC.
In June of 2020, the Office for the Arts and Culture of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (a2ru member since 2019) created Artifica tu Casa (Artify your Home), an online festival dedicated to sharing the experience of different artistic disciplines with people in their homes during quarantine. Thousands of people watched the series through the live broadcast and in the YouTube repository.
In this new series, the festival will include other Chilean universities, with the purpose of presenting a program of free masterclasses with representatives of different regions of Chile. From July 7 to August 25, every Wednesday at 6:30PM (EST), we will explore a different artistic discipline with the guidance of a specialist in the field.
“This program was created thinking on the public role and the community commitment of our University, and also has the goal of fostering free cultural moments in these difficult times, for those who enjoy the Arts. Due to that, this year we invited academics from universities of the north, center, and south of Chile, to highlight that collaboration is the key to overcome this pandemic,” said Miryam Singer, Director of the Office for the Arts and Culture and recipient of the 2020 Musical Arts National Award.
Each talk will be broadcast live through the Facebook fan page and the YouTube Channel of the Office for the Arts and Culture. The presentations will last 30 minutes and after that, the speakers will respond to questions from the audience. English closed captions will be added to the videos within 3 days of each talk on the Arts and Culture YouTube channel.
This year, the festival will include professors from Universidad Católica del Norte, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Santiago, Universidad del Desarrollo, Universidad de Concepción, Universidad Austral, and also from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. During the two months, we will explore topics around Pre-Hispanic Arts, Music, Literature, Visual Arts, Cinema, Theater, Architecture, and Opera.
The series will feature: Professor Joel Poblete, prominent film critic; Dr. Patricia Henríquez, an expert in Chilean Theater and indigenous performative practices; Professor Edward Rojas, recipient of the 2016 Architecture National Award; Dr. Helena Horta, an expert in Prehispanic Art; Dr. Constanza Acuña, important researcher of Colonial Painting; Dr. Andrea Jeftanovic, an outstanding writer; Professor Pablo Alvarado, respected Chamber Orchestra Director; and Professor Miryam Singer, recipient of the 2020 Musical Arts National Award.
