Inaugural Creative Director, Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice, University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Inaugural Creative Director Jeanne – Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice –  University of North Carolina at Greensboro | Greensboro, North Carolina

UNC Greensboro (UNCG, the University) seeks an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader to serve as the inaugural Creative Director of the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice (JTCCP, the Center). This leader will have a singular opportunity to craft and realize the vision for a brand-new center, one that will serve as a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, and innovation. With the freedom to shape the Center’s direction from the ground up, this role offers the chance to establish a distinct, forward-thinking presence within the University, the city of Greensboro, and beyond.

Increasingly complex global challenges demand innovative approaches to thinking, working, collaborating, and problem-solving. Research is evolving to become more inter- and transdisciplinary, with traditionally siloed fields coming together to address urgent issues. Serving at once as an incubator for innovative projects and as a facilitator of novel partnerships, the JTCCP offers the opportunity to foster this critical transdisciplinary collaboration, both on campus and with diverse external communities. Enabled by a transformational gift from alumna Jeanne Tannenbaum, the Center aspires to be a vibrant hub where students, faculty, visiting creatives, industry leaders, and Greensboro residents converge to imagine, create, and innovate. The Creative Director will have the unique opportunity to shape the identity and trajectory of the JTCCP, building a center that integrates creative exploration and innovation into the core of campus and community life. As the inaugural leader, the Creative Director will be the driving force behind the Center’s early development, navigating the complexities of launching a high-impact initiative, building meaningful partnerships with community leaders, local organizations, and campus stakeholders, and laying the groundwork for future growth.

The successful candidate will bring exceptional vision, energy, and adaptability to this pivotal moment, along with a deep passion for engaging others in creative practice. They will be a connector and translator, adept at navigating and bridging the worlds of academia, community, and industry. This leader must speak fluently across these spheres, translating these varied perspectives into shared goals and facilitating understanding between groups. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a leader who is equally at ease in the classroom, a community center, or a conference room: a person who understands the power of creativity to connect people, illuminate ideas, and achieve impact.

The target salary for this role is approximately $100,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
