UW-Madison Financial Specialist
Overview*
The Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives (OMAI) within the Division of Diversity, Equity, & Educational Achievement (DDEEA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Financial Specialist II to provide support to this fast-paced, recently expanded office. OMAI provides culturally relevant and transformative arts programming to promote positive social dialogue and to give cultural art forms a legitimate academic forum. OMAI’s events and programming create learning environments that directly enhance UW-Madison’s campus climate, improving retention and graduation, and preparing future leaders to reinvest in their communities.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration for the DDEEA, the Financial Specialist II will provide support for all purchasing, as well as staff and student travel within OMAI (assisting with travel booking, cash advance requests, and e-reimbursement).
Standard Summary*
Primarily reviews, approves, and advises on a variety of advanced financial transactions. Prepares financial transactions and reconciles transactions. Recommends controls and process improvements, troubleshoots advanced financial errors. Maintains financial records, provides administrative processing support, and provides customer service to support program financial management.
Responsibilities*
- 10% Audits, monitors, organizes, & updates fiscal records, reports, and materials
- 10% Creates general reporting for transactions
- 15% Audits or processes advanced transactions in accordance with established policies
- 15% Audits or reconciles purchase documents
- 5% Reallocates expenses to appropriate funding
- 10% Drafts communications & advanced reports, maintains organization of varied records
- 5% Answers advanced fiscal questions & provides information to various audiences
- 10% Reviews transaction processing internal controls and recommends policies and procedures
- 10% Administrative tasks, producing contracts for guest artists and venues, booking travel/lodging
- 10% Office management support, purchasing and monitoring supplies, supervising student interns
Salary
Minimum $24.03 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications; Range $24.03 ($50,000) – $26.92 ($56,000)
