Ground Works Welcomes New Editors
September 13, 2021
This fall, a2ru warmly welcomes ten new members to the editorial board of Ground Works, a2ru’s online platform for arts-integrated research. The new editors, all representing a2ru member institutions, are:
Audrey G. Bennett
University of Michigan
Robin Cass
Rochester Institute of Technology
Mihyun Kang
Penn State University
Julian Kilker
University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Jinku Kim
University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Maria C. Olivares
Boston University
Nicole Hodges Persley
University of Kansas
Julia M. Ritter
Rutgers University
Lourdes Santamaría-Wheeler
University of Florida
Jacqueline Wernimont
Dartmouth
The full, updated Editorial Board roster includes these new members, a robust 2020 cohort, and a core group of Editors who helped launch the publication in 2019 and have agreed to serve a third term.
The editors’ primary responsibility is to review short letters of interest from submitters—called “Stage 1 review” at Ground Works—for suitability with the platform. However, many Editors do far more: following Stage 1 submissions through to the more in-depth Stage 2 review; designing programs targeted for students; meeting one-on-one with potential submitters to discuss their research; working to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion at Ground Works; contributing to special editions; and helping to onboard new Editors.
Watch for upcoming Ground Works projects, including the publication of new entries on the platform’s Journal page (late fall) and the release of a special collection entitled “Vibrant Ecologies of Research” (early 2022), edited by Aaron D. Knochel of Penn State. Knochel and Ground Works Managing Editor Veronica Stanich will lead a panel discussion at a2ru’s upcoming conference, exploring ecologies of research where art and design inquiry can flourish alongside, within, and out of social and physical science research.
