• Artists don’t typically start with a hypothesis, or structure their practice to prove that hypothesis. But I think that artistic practice can itself be a form of research and knowledge production. In art, the outcomes may be more open-ended, but they’re driven by a similar process of inquiry and desire for discovery.

An introduction to dramatic structure writing – and writing in general – viewed through the lens of writing for one-hour dramatic television


 

With both the artistic and technical aspects of video game production in mind, this Carnegie Mellon University course is an introduction to dramatic structure writing, and writing in general, viewed through the lens of writing for one-hour dramatic television. Students are expected to gain and demonstrate – through actual finished scripts – an understanding of writing for dramatic media such as TV and video games.
