In an era of significant political, religious, and cultural transformation, art, literature, and music underwent radical change.


Co-taught by Penn State faculty from Musicology, Art History and English, The Shock of the New explores the disorderly, unruly, and provocative across the arts in Early Modern Europe. Including live performances, a number of readings, guest lectures, and expertise from the core faculty, this seminar is open upper level undergraduate and graduate students.
