The Partnership for Twenty-First Century Skills is a national organization of business and educational interests that advocates for “21st century readiness” – that is, readiness to compete in a global economy – for American K-12 students. “P21” provides tools to help the U.S. education system fuse the traditional “3Rs” and the “4Cs”:  Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity and innovation). The Partnership sees arts education as important to developing these competencies, and created this “arts map” to provide suggestions for the integration of all of the arts at different levels of K-12 schooling to help achieve specific 21st-century skills.  This map is interesting as a resource for classroom teachers at all levels and as a reflection of thinking of major business and educational corporations regarding the importance of the arts in the classroom.
