A2RU-Mellon Guide

Current efforts mapping the role of the arts on research university campuses will be completed this summer, resulting in the publication of the Mellon Best Practices Guide in September. Mellon Research Project Director Bruce Mackh has completed 22 months of travel and interviews with 46 institutions. He is now writing the Mellon Best Practices Guide. This was supported by a three-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This first round of Mellon funding expires on June 30, 2015. We have applied for a second round of funding to support the application and dissemination of identified best practices, along with support for new and established research on our campuses

Dr. Bruce Mackh has been the face and voice of the Mellon Research Project for the past two and a half years. He’s visited nearly all of our campuses and interviewed over 900 faculty, students, and administrators. He is a friend and colleague to many of us. Dr. Mackh has successfully fulfilled his three-year research appointment and has accepted a position at Michigan State University where he will be taking on the role of Director of Arts and Cultural Management effective July 1, 2015. a2ru thanks Dr. Mackh who will share best practices and applications of the Mellon research findings at the 2015 a2ru National Conference hosted by Virginia Tech. We thank him for his seminal work and anticipate future collaborations as we disseminate, apply, and further explore his research findings in the coming years.
