• A phrase in poetry is not just that phrase, but the echoes of all the words that you didn't choose, that could have been chosen in the place of the words that you did choose. And for me, that is very definitional of what the arts is; it explores the empty spaces around what is.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, this Syracuse course engages a wide range of research modes and experimentation to inform cutting-edge design of shell structures, which are important for both performative and aesthetic reasons. The professors of this course encourage collaborative design and dialogue amongst a diverse group of engineering and architecture students with the intent of producing speculative design work that pushes the fields of both engineering and architecture.
