Veteran arts education consultant and activist, Jane Remer, provides invaluable perspective and advice from more than 40 years’ worth of observation, analysis, and advocacy.  Remer writes, “In the pages that follow, I scour the vivid lessons learned in schools around the country to identify the conditions necessary for effective arts teaching and learning on the K–12 levels. From these lessons, I draw implications for policy development at the local level.”  Remer’s advice for sustainable grass-roots policy development is instructive, especially when paired with the story of destruction wrought in Texas by federal and state policy.
